Launched in July 2015, the response has proven to be a positive one. “We have found that there are many people out there who support our brand and what we stand for,” says Luv. creator Tracey Young.
Luv. has been a passion project for Young from the very beginning. In search of her next venture, Young knew she wanted to combine a business concept that went beyond simply selling products. She wanted it to be something that encompassed passion and giving. Her hopes were to inspire and share love with others and stand by her core belief that love is what gets everyone through anything in life. “I believe love is the driver of all great stories. If you look at anyone who has accomplished big things, the foundation of that was the love behind it and the passion that goes into it,” says Young. It was this belief that inspired what Luv. would ultimately stand for, and so began her next entrepreneurial journey. Young knew there was no better way to give back than to support various charities and this is what she has built the Luv. brand on. “Luv. is a community and collaboration of artists and individuals who care about giving. It’s about giving consciously, giving with purpose and giving something that gives back to others,” explains Young.
Teaming up with designers from across North America, items sold by Luv. are all hand-crafted products produced by artists who are mindful about the world around them. What sets Luv. apart from others is the fact that all products created from the artists are outside their current product line. “We not only provide high-quality, beautiful products, but also gifts that are sustainable and ethically made so they will provide both short term and long term benefits. Considered a social enterprise for change, Luv. is all about making a difference in the world. It is for this very reason that Young decided to provide consumers not only with great products, but also a means to support charities at the same time. It’s shopping while paying it forward. “The driving force behind Luv. is inspiring gestures and thoughts of love and giving because we believe that adds value to everyone’s life,” says Young. Luv. will have two collections per year and each collection will be connected to a specific cause. The first collection, available now, includes over 60 products from 22 designers and supports five International children charities including: War Child, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, UNICEF, Save the Children, and Feed The Children.
With each purchase of a Luv. product, consumers will have the option of deciding which of the five charities they want their purchase to go towards, making Luv. a truly interactive experience that makes a purchase serve a purpose. Luv. also goes one step further for their customers. All pieces purchased come beautifully packaged and include a special gift that Young and her Luv. team hope customers will pass on to someone else so that each purchase keeps on giving. “At Luv. we’re all about going that extra mile to make our products even more special.” In addition, Luv. will donate 50% of net profits to the charity of the consumer’s choice. The other 50% will be re-invested into the Luv. initiative. “This will enable us to continue to grow the brand and support our community of artists, team members and consumers,” adds Young.
By connecting artists and their products to consumers and charities, Luv. believes this in itself starts a dialogue where art inspires conversation, creating a social movement. “We hope to continue ￼to expand our network of artists and ￼consumers. The charities are our share-￼holders. We work for them and really ￼hope to help them grow and continue to make a positive impact on the world,“ says Young. Luv.’s next collection will be released in the first quarter of 2016. “For our next collection, we will be concentrating on environmental issues and we are currently vetting potential environmental charities to work with,” adds Young.
