As the iconic shoe designer Christian Louboutin once said ‘A woman can carry a bag, but it is the shoe that carries the woman.’ As a stylist I believe strongly that shoes can make or break an outfit. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again and again; shoes can change your life! Just look at Cinderella, her shoes landed her the man of her dreams. So allow me to be your very own fairy godmother and show you what shoes will change your life this spring/summer.

Something we are going to see in all of the trends is glitter, embellishments, florals, studs and leather. This spring/summer more is more when it comes to shoes, making them one of the best ways to amp up an outfit!

The Kitten Heel: Can’t walk in those sky-high stilettoes? Well you no longer have to! The kitten heel is coming back stronger than ever. Every woman wants to find that great pair of heels that she can walk all day and night in and the kitten heel will allow you to do exactly that.

The Mule: The name might not be the most appealing but the comfort of the shoe sure will be. Mules are being brought to us in so many new fabulous ways that the 90’s would be jealous. They come in any type of heel and including flats, plain black or any type of pattern, but they are going to be everywhere. This is the shoe that everyone needs a pair of this year.

The Two in One: The shoe that really gives you more bang for your buck! Can’t decide what shoes to buy? Don’t. Get them both! This is a shoe that literally transforms from a wedge to a flat in a matter of seconds, making life a whole lot easier.

The Fun Sneaker: Sneakers have never been so hot both on and off the runway. This trend will make you feel like a kid all over again. Anything goes when it comes to the fun sneaker; jewels, studs, spikes, florals, you name it. At any age this trend is appropriate and fun. Keeping things comfy and chic, you can pair these sneakers with just about anything. From day to night, dresses to dress pants, the sky is really the limit when it comes to this fun trend.

The Ballerina Flat: This isn’t the ballerina flat we once new and loved, this is a new look that has been taken quite literally. Miu Miu started the trend and every other major label was quick to follow. This shoe is almost identical to a ballet point shoe except a lot more comfortable. With a plethora of different colours and styles and ankle straps, these shoes will make you feel like you’re a true ballerina.

The Second Skin: This trend is being done in many different ways but mainly the new spring/summer bootie. It is so fitted to the foot and leg that it is meant to look and feel like a colourful second skin.

The Glass Slipper: What kind of fairy godmother would I be if I didn’t mention the glass slipper! We are seeing it done in booties to flats and everything in between. This shoe can be matched with any outfit. When in doubt put on a clear shoe – no colour clashing there.
